Texas Licensing Requirements

Although a course is NOT required in Texas, the overall pass rate on a license exam is roughly 50% for first-time test-takers. Prospective licensees WILL PASS the Texas License Exam when they follow the MaxQ Learning System®.
3. Schedule and Successfully Pass Your specific Texas Insurance License Exam
When the course is complete and you have mastered the content AND successfully completed the FOUR Simulated License Exams, the NEXT step is to schedule your license exam.

4. Successfully Pass Your Texas Licensing Exam
The minimum passing score is 70%. At the end of your exam, your score will be shown on the screen, and you will receive a printed score sheet. When the exam has been completed, PearsonVue will then inform the Texas Department of Insurance on your behalf. The Texas Department of Insurance will retain this successful completion and consider it valid for 90 days (after your testing date) awaiting the arrival of your Insurance License Application!

5. Apply for a Texas Insurance License
Once you have passed your Texas licensing exam, you are ready to apply for an insurance license.
When all Texas requirements have been met, the applicant submits an electronic application to the Texas Department of Insurance through NIPR.com.
When finished processing your request, you will be assigned a National Producer Number or NPN. The NPN is used by some states to replace a state producer license number. This unique identifier is assigned through the licensing application process and is used to track individuals and business entities on a national basis.
