3. Schedule and Successfully Pass Your Iowa Licensing Exam

When the course is complete and you have mastered the content AND successfully completed the FOUR Simulated License Exams (Score over 80%), the NEXT step is to schedule your license exam.

4. Successfully Pass Your Iowa Licensing Exam

The minimum passing score is 70%. At the end of your exam, your score will be shown on the screen, and you will receive a printed score sheet.  When the exam has been completed, PearsonVue will then inform the Iowa Insurance Division on your behalf.  The Iowa Insurance Division will retain this successful completion and consider it valid for 90 days (after your testing date) awaiting the arrival of your Criminal History Record Report!

If you are not successful in passing the exam, contact MaxQ Publishing for a FREE Coaching Session to determine why. DO NOT RETAKE THE EXAM WITHOUT TALKING WITH OUR COACH! IT'S FREE!!!!

5. Obtain a Criminal History Background Report from the Iowa State Police

To request a criminal history record report from Iowa State Police, visit Criminal History Report Request  to request your Criminal History Record Report (“CHRR”). When completing the form, have the report mailed back to you, not to the Insurance Division.

6. Apply for an Iowa Insurance License

Once you have passed your state licensing exam, you are ready to apply for an insurance license.

When the completed Criminal History Record Report has been received, the applicant submits an electronic application to the Iowa Insurance Division through NIPR.com (Remember to attach the Criminal History Record Report)

When processed, you will be assigned a National Producer Number or NPN.  The NPN is used by many states to replace a state producer license number.  This unique identifier is assigned through the licensing application process and is used to track individuals and business entities on a national basis.
